‘The Gathering’
‘The Gathering’ is a powerful celebration of the women whose lives have shaped our own.
There’s something profoundly moving about seeing generations of women together, female ancestors sharing space with their descendants. To trace a familiar gaze, a smile, the shape of a face, and feel the quiet certainty of where you belong.
This design honours the names and faces that can so easily be lost to time. Not tucked away in an album or in a family tree, but on your wall, in your home, where you can see them every day.
It’s been heartwarming to introduce my daughter to the strong women who came before her, honouring the lineage that she carries forward. As you can see from her photo, she’s inherited the strength and determination of many.
Each woman is honoured through her photograph, full name, maiden name and relationship to her descendant, while the matrilineal line connects mother to daughter, creating a visual thread of identity and belonging.
More than a design, this piece is a timeless taonga of female strength, connection and remembrance, made to be carried forward.
